About the speaker

Javaid Rehman PhD, FRSA, FAcSS is a Professor of Human Rights Law and Muslim Constitutionalism at Brunel University, London. He is one of the leading authorities in Islamic law and has written extensively on various aspects of Islamic law and Islamic family laws. He is an advocate of the High Court, Pakistan and is a member of the Punjab Bar Council. He is a member of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn London and is an associate member of Garden Court North Chambers, Manchester. In July 2018, the United Nations Human Rights Council appointed Professor Rehman as the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
