Community care & mental health

Garden Court North Chambers offers expert advice and representation in all areas including community care assessments, inadequate service provision, residential and non-residential services, charging and MHRT decisions. We are experts in the field of human rights law and employ arguments under the ECHR.

In community care, we deal with a broad range of work for individuals, mainly in the Administrative Court, but also in proceedings before the Court of Protection. We regularly deal with matters as diverse as the provision of accommodation for destitute asylum seekers, challenges to the content of care plans, and disputes over the closure of care homes. The experience of our members in housing and immigration work complements this area of practice.

Members regularly appear in the Administrative Court and in the County Court in complex community care and public law matters.

We are particularly aware of the many overlaps between these and other areas of specialisation and can offer expertise in housing, immigration, education law and welfare rights where appropriate.

Although Chambers is in Manchester, our members frequently travel to courts across England and Wales. If you would like to know more about our community care and mental health work please contact the Practice Management Team on 0161 817 6377 or at gcn@gcnchambers.co.uk.
