Immigration and EU law for housing lawyers: the new Immigration Act, Brexit and more
Chair: James Stark
Members of the GCN housing team will deliver a half-day seminar on aspects of the new Immigration Act 2016 relevant to housing lawyers, including the right to rent and the new grounds/bases for seeking possession, which is probably the single biggest change the Act introduces for housing lawyers. The team will also provide an overview of other immigration law and EU law generally as is relevant to housing lawyers.
The Immigration Act 2016 came into force on 12 May 2016 and its provisions start to come into force on 31 May 2016 with more on 12 July 2016. A number of the GCN housing team also practice immigration law and are particularly well placed to deliver this seminar on the aspects of the new Immigration Act relevant to housing lawyers. This will be complemented by a more general overview of immigration and EU law in relation to housing.
