All practitioners involved in, or who want to become involved in judicial review proceedings. The conference addresses both practical aspects of Judicial Review litigation and provides up-to-date information on the latest case-law and trends from leaders in the field.

New to JR?

In particular two of the workshop sessions are ideally suited to practitioners who are relatively new to JR and provide a perfect opportunity to learn the basics of starting and progressing a JR claim:

  • Practical hints on drafting effective letters before claim – Melanie Plimmer (Garden Court North Chambers) [Morning session 2]
  • Claimant strategies in Judicial Review – Karen Ashton (Public Law Solicitors) [Afternoon session 4]

Familiar with JR but want more detail?

Other workshop sessions are more geared up for those with established JR practices, focusing on emerging areas of law and latest developments:

  • The “Children Leaving Care Act” duties and how they can assist vulnerable clients – Adam Fullwood (Garden Court North Chambers) [Morning session 1]
  • The Equality and Human Rights Commission; advantages of EHRC involvement in public law cases – Glynis Craig (EHRC) [Morning session 3]
  • Article 5; arbitrary detention or arbitrary case-law? – Pete Weatherby (Garden Court North Chambers) [Afternoon session 5]

Main conference themes

In addition to the morning and afternoon workshop options the conference will also provide:

  • A Review of the year’s Top 10 Judicial Review cases
  • Trends & Forecasts in Judicial Review
  • Panel discussion on Regionalisation of the Administrative Court in practice
