GCN's Mark George Q.C. will be chairing this presentation which is being run by Innocence Project New Orleans and Resurrection After Exoneration.
John Thompson was sentenced to death for a murder he did not commit. He then spent 14 years on death row in Louisiana and had his execution date set on no less than seven occasions before an investigator found a lab report that proved he was innocent. When John was re-tried in 2003 he was acquitted in just 30 minutes.
On Tuesday 13th October John will be speaking about his experience together with Emily Maw who is the director of the Innocence Project in New Orleans and who has helped to free other wrongly convicted prisoners.
Mark George Q.C. will be chairing the meeting which is to be held in Lecture Theatre A, University Place (opp. Manchester Museum) University of Manchester, Oxford Road.
