Lancaster student protesters launch appeal

Six students who were taken to court for taking part in a demonstration at Lancaster University are due to start an appeal against their convictions today.

All six were found guilty of aggravated trespass during a hearing at Lancaster Magistrates' Court in September 2005.

They are being supported by groups including Liberty, the National Union of Students (NUS) and the Association of University Teachers.

Andy Fitzpatrick will appear for the appellants.
