The Observer has this weekend published an in-depth article about the ongoing miscarriage case of Michael Shields. A link to the article is contained in this news story.
In May 2007 the Court of Human Rights rejected Michael Shields' application, but efforts continue to re-open the case in Bulgaria on the basis of the flawed trial procedure and fresh evidence. There is likely to be further news on this miscarriage case soon.
Michael Shields' case has attracted widespread interest, and support from his MEP Arlene McCarthy, Louise Ellman MP, Liverpool City Council, the Bishop of Liverpool, and a number of Liverpool football players including Stephen Gerrard and Xabi Alonso.
