Immigration Update

Location: Palace Hotel, Central Manchester

From 1st October 2011, Section 53 of the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009 comes into force opening up the possibility of the transfer of judicial review proceedings to the Tribunal. This seminar will update delegates on the latest developments in immigration and asylum law with an emphasis on these changes in respect of judicial review of and to the Upper Tribunal, both in terms of procedure and relevant caselaw. The seminar will also cover recent key decisions of the appellate and european courts, which provide scope to challenge the decisions of the UKBA and the tribunal. This will include developments in fresh claims, Zambrano and Article 8 in light of ZH Tanzania and s.55 of the Borders Act.

As part of a day of tributes to Steve Cohen, who died earlier this year, ILPA are presenting a debate inspired by Steve Cohen's "No-one is illegal" manifesto. The event will take place in Manchester and is open to anyone with an interest in this area.
