Over the past 18 months there have been some significant developments in housing law. Members of Garden Court North Chambers' housing team have been directly involved in a number of these cases including Lambeth LBC v O'Kane; Helena Housing Ltd v Pinder and Others (tolerated trespassers) and Talbot (R on the application of) v. (1) Manchester Crown Court (2) Manchester City Council (ASBOs "by consent"). Looking at these developments from a tenants' perspective, this seminar reviewed current case law and considered areas such as security of tenure, homelessness, ASBOs, neighbour nuisance and demotion orders.
