Garden Court North Chambers, in association with Shelter and North West Housing Law Practitioners Group (NWHLPG) are proud to sponsor a special screening of "Cathy Come Home" at the Cornerhouse in Manchester this evening.
It is almost 40 years since Ken Loach's powerful teleplay about a homeless couple forced a change in the law. Watching now it reminds us that things have improved but there is still a long way to go. Millions of children are homeless or living in substandard housing. This year Shelter is fighting to end once and for all the practice of local councils taking children into care rather than housing homeless families together.
The special screening was followed by a discussion about the issues raised by the film led by representatives of Shelter, NWHLPG and Garden Court North Chamebrs.
