IPP sentence quashed for low level robbery

03/08/2007

The Court of Appeal Criminal Division quashed a sentence of imprisonment for public protection (IPP) and instead imposed a determinate sentence in an appeal against sentence.

R v Lawrie (02/08/07) Court of Appeal, Case no 0703211 A4

The offence for which the IPP was originally given was a low level robbery.

Again, this decision follows Lang in relation to "dangerous offenders".

Pete Weatherby appeared for Lawrie instructed by Rober Lizar solicitors.
