29/11/2006
Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of Cathy Come Home's first screening, the BBC "No Home" season will explore the ways in which homeless people's circumstances have changed in 2006 - with fewer people sleeping on the streets and a growing number living in substandard temporary accommodation and hostels.
Programmes on BBC1 will include Evicted, a documentary following the experience of three young girls and their families in temporary accommodation.
Evicted is devastating indictment of the failure of the government to adequately address the problem of homelessness in 21st century Britain. Through moving personal stories, this film exposes the shocking truth behind their search for a home as they struggle to survive on the edge of society. In a country where people can own two or three homes, these are the stories of those who don't have one.
Evicted will be broadcast on BBC One: Wednesday 29th Nov, 10:35pm
In 2004, Garden Court North Chambers sponsored a special screening of Cathy Come Home at the Cornerhouse Cinema in association with Shelter and North West Housing Law Practitioners.
