About us
Chambers is strongly committed to publicly funded work on behalf of individuals who have suffered discrimination or other hardship. We specialise in criminal, housing, immigration and employment law although at present pupillage will not be offered in employment law. We also cover civil actions against the police, prison law, public law (including Judicial Review), community care, mental health and education law. In all areas of our work we have a particular interest in cases with civil liberties and human rights implications.
About you
We are looking for pupils who are attracted by the ethos of chambers and who wish to specialise in or are interested in these areas of work. In particular we are looking for candidates who are committed to the ethos of these chambers and who are able to demonstrate that commitment through their activities.
What we offer
We encourage pupils to gain experience in each area during the first six months although we will consider preferences expressed for work in a particular area. We will try to allocate pupils to supervisors who practice in the areas in which that pupil wants to specialise in or gain experience in. We do not offer pupillage with a view to tenancy but if we decide to recruit, pupils will be notified before the end of their pupillage so that they can make an application for tenancy.
We have modern premises in the centre of Manchester and can offer high quality training to those who share our commitment to our principles in a friendly and informal atmosphere. We offer two 12 month pupillages each year with awards of £14,000 each. Applications are to be made through the Pupillage Portal . In the second 6 months pupils can expect to be very busy and to be in court several days each week.
