Members specialise in advising and representing employees and workers in all areas of employment law, including unfair/wrongful dismissal, redundancy, transfer of undertakings, discrimination cases, equal pay, maternity/paternity rights, contractual disputes and particularly, health and safety/employers' liability.

Members have experience in all areas of discrimination law, including, race, sex, disability, sexual orientation and equal pay. Members have experience of litigation involving large corporations, local and central Government departments, as well as the armed forces. Demonstrating a commitment to redressing discrimination, members have advised various organisations campaigning in the area of discrimination and have published on the subject of discrimination and human rights.

Underpinned by a strong commitment to union rights and workplace rights, members are willing to take on cases on a pro Bono basis as appropriate. Indeed the backgrounds of some members lie in grassroots employment law and union caseworker roles bringing to the team a genuine depth of experience in this area.

Chambers receives employment and discrimination law instructions from Disability Rights Commission (DRC), Commission for Racial Equality (CRE), trade unions, law centres. Citizens Advice Bureaux, and leading employment solicitors. In addition to dealing with single instructions, Chambers also has experience of working to specific service level requests.

Between 2002 and 2004 Chambers fulfilled a contract to provide specialist advice on all aspects of employment law for the LSC Specialist Support Pilot Project in Employment Law for the North West region.

Seminars

Members have experience of lecturing and providing legal professional training in employment law within the voluntary sector, for the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE), solicitors' firms, further/higher education and at various levels within the trade union movement.
