US Death Penalty Training (Reprieve/ Amicus event)

GCN's Mark George Q.C. will be speaking at the US death penalty training session organised jointly by Amicus and Reprieve on Saturday 27th February 2010 in London.

The full course begins on Friday evening 26th February and runs until Sunday 28th February.This part of the course will cover the theory involved in death penalty law. A further weekend on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st March will cover practical issues in death penalty litigation.

The aim of the course is to introduce the subject to student lawyers and others interested in issues around the death penalty in the USA and in particular to provide practical training and advice to those who intend to do an internship in one of the death penalty States. Detailed materials will be provided to those attending.

The programme for Saturday 27th February includes sessions on the US Federal Constitution, the practice of the US Supreme Court, trial procedure, jury selection, mitigation and appeals.Mark George will be speaking on trial procedure in a capital case. Mark has spoken on similar training courses over the last ten years.
