Wig out hair in as barristers modernise their dress

Hair today, gone tomorrow?that?s the fate of wigs in the civil courts as barristers and judges shed a centuries-old tradition in favour of a more natural look. John Forsyth, writing for LexisNexis News, garners some views from barristers at Garden North Court including Pete Weatherby .

In Manchester's Garden Court North Chambers Peter Weatherby supported the Lord Chief Justice and urged him on further. ?We should get rid of wigs altogether, not just for the civil bar. Wigs are a complete anachronism. What would Martians make of it if they landed and saw inside a courtroom??
At least barristers pay for their own wigs and his first cost £500 over 15 years ago. It got stolen almost straight away along with his gown and his Pupil's copy of Archbold from the back seat of his car by an opportunistic 14-year old.
