Andrew Jones inquest

08/12/2008

The inquest into the death of Merseyside teenager Andrew Jones who was fatally injured after a night out is due to start tomorrow, Tuesday 9th December 2008, at Liverpool Coroners Court and is listed for 5 days.

Andrew Jones, 18, was punched in the face in March 2003 whilst on a night out in Liverpool. The youngster, from Walton, hit his head and died in hospital the next day.

Despite police investigations and a BBC Crimewatch appeal, his killer has never been caught.

15.12.08 UPDATE: At the conclusion of the inquest on Friday 12th December 2008, the the Coroner recorded a verdict of unlawful killing because he was satisfied that although he was not permitted to name an individual in the verdict, a particular individual had been identified as responsible for throwing the punch that killed Andrew Jones.

> We want justice not revenge - Andrew Jones was a young lad killed by a punch after a night on the town. But his parents say it was marked down as a 'scum on scum' killing - and this complacency is why, 18 months on, his killer is still free. Julie Bindel reports - The Guardian (22/10/2004)
