US Death Penalty Training (Amicus and Reprieve event)

Date: October 2010
Time: TBC
Location: London
CPD Points: TBC

Amicus and Reprieve will be running two weekends of training in US death penalty law and procedure in London in October. The course is essential for those who wish to undertake an internship in the US working with local attorneys on behalf of those on death row or facing a capital murder trial. The course will also be of great interest to those who wish to learn more about the process involved in a capital case.

GCN's Mark George Q.C. will be speaking on Saturday 2nd October on trial procedure in a capital case including jury selection. In a separate session Mark will also be talking about the complex appeals process in a capital case. Other sessions will cover an introduction to the US Constitution and the US Supreme Court as well as explaining what is involved in mitigation in case where the jury has to decide whether the client gets a life sentence or death.

The course has become increasing popular in recent years and early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. An application form can be downloaded here. Further details can be obtained from Amicus on 0870-414-1000 or the Amicus website www.amicus-alj.org
