Mark George QC will be speaking alongside former death row inmate Lane Nelson at an Amicus event taking place in Manchester next week.
Wednesday 19th October 2011, Tickets £20
venue: Pannone LLP, 123 Deansgate, Manchester M3 2BU
It's not often you will get the chance to hear from someone who was sentenced to death in Louisiana and lived to tell the tale. And you don't even need to leave Manchester to hear from him. Lane Nelson was on death row in Louisiana at the same time as Andrew Lee Jones. Andrew was the last person to die in the electric chair in Louisiana before they switched to poisoning people to death instead. Lane Nelson will be speaking about his experience as well as his memories of Andrew Lee Jones.
Andrews' death resulted in the founding of the Andrew Lee Jones Fund which later became Amicus. We have been assisting US attorneys working for those on death row ever since, principally by training and placing volunteer interns in law offices in death penalty states.
PLEASE NOTE: Tickets available via Amicus only. www.amicus-alj.org/events
