Since its inception GCN has striven to be a leader in the field of public law, and a wide compass of our members are regularly involved in public law challenges and in particular judicial review. We regularly undertake JRs in immigration and asylum , housing , community care , mental health , prison , inquest and criminal law. Our involvement in these areas has been assisted by and has assisted the development of the Administrative Court in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds in particular. Chambers has long recognised that public law challenges are a key method of upholding and furthering the rights of the citizen against the State.

Administrative law remedies inform all areas of Chambers' practice and members of Chambers are alive to the possibilities for challenge to administrative decision-making, particularly in light of the Human Rights Act 1998.

Members of Chambers regularly provide training to other legal professionals in judicial review practice and procedure (including regular updates) and all areas engaging the exercise of public law functions.

Chambers has a commitment to the Community Legal Service and therefore places emphasis on providing representation to individuals and community groups who may be affected adversely by poor quality administrative decision-making.

Garden Court North were sponsors of the Public Law Project "JR North" conference in Mancheseter in 2010 , 2009 , 2008 and 2007 .
